Free Bonus Printable – Eid Money Packets/Envelopes!

Our FREE BONUS DIY Printable is all about MONEY!
*You may download this printable at the end of post*

MONEY PACKETS (ENVELOPES) IN ENGLISH & MALAY

As a child who grew up in Malaysia, I used to look forward to every Raya (Eid) because of the festive money!  My sister and I would collect so many Sampul duit raya (Eid money packets)  from parents, relatives, family friends etc. So basically, if you’re not married, you’ll get it! Its not a common practice back home to give out presents during Eid, though now, living in Australia and being married to a Lebanese, we do both traditions- give out presents and money to the little ones.

It is extremely hard, in fact, I don’t think I’ve seen any shops that give them out or sell them here in Melbourne. Every year I’d have to make my own ones or simply reuse old ones. So I thought it would be a great idea to give them out for FREE to all In My Studio Fans as part of my FREE DIY Confetti Collection Party Pack.

They are so easy to make, it only takes about a minute to finish 1. I have made it available in 2 languages, 1 in english (Eid Mubarak, Happy Eid) and another in Malay (Selamat Hari Raya, Salam Aidilfitri).

Materials needed for this project:

1. This printable template
2. A4 | 8×12” White paper (200 gsm | 110 lb +)
3. Ruler
4. Cutter or scissors
5. Double sided tape/glue

Using a ruler as well as scissors/cutter, carefully cut out each template.

Fold accordingly.

Then apply glue or sticky tape on the side flaps as noted on template.

I prefer using double sided tape as its less messy…so now peel it off…

And bring the back cover over, press it gently to make a finished money envelope.

Repeat the process until you have made your desired amount. There are a couple of designs that include ‘To & From” if you wish to name your money packets.

Now insert your money (notes are preferred over coins, the bigger the number, the better :p )

As for me, I have packaged these in a pack of 6 to give out to my parents and relatives, for free of course :)

Freebie #3 – Printable DIY Eid Bunting Flags

Our third week FREE DIY Printable is for the home!
*You may download this printable at the end of post*

Freebie #1 – Printable DIY Eid Bunting Flags

What is a celebration without a welcome banner right? So for week #3, we have a bunting flag template that you can just simply print, cut and decorate!
Materials needed for this project:
1. This printable template
2. A4/8×12” White paper (200gsm/110 lb +)
3. Ruler
4. Cutter and scissors
5. Hole punch
6. Ribbon or string
Cut the flag template using a cutter/scissors and ruler.
Don’t be lazy like me and cut all 6 pages together in one go! Thank God I got them all right- be sure to align the pages properly if you’re using this lazy method!
Use a hole puncher to make 2 holes on each flag.
Again, the lazy me…punching all the holes together. Woohoo I got it right the first go! (if you stuff up, you start again from scratch!)

Arrange them to make “EID MUBARAK”.

Cut your string to the desired length (measure where you want to hang them first). Thread the string/ribbon through. The first letter, you need to put the string from the top (see pic above).

And then just add all the letters, making sure the string/ribbon is behind the flag so you cant see it.

And now decorate! I chose to hang them at my old unused fireplace as mantel piece decoration. Absolutely love it! And the best part is, the colors go extremely well with my living room decor!

{in my kitchen} beef black pepper

I love a quick and easy stir fry for a mid week dinner! Being at work-at-home-mum to a mother of 2 under 3, leaves me very little time for everything else. You might plan ahead what you had in mind for dinner, but things happen and now you’re left with under an hour to prepare dinner? Just put on a pot of rice and make this simply beef black pepper stir fry. All done in about 30 minutes!

RECIPE FOR CHINESE BEEF BLACK PEPPER

Adapted from Rasa Malaysia with slight modifications

Serves: 2
Prep time: 15 mins
Cook time: 20 mins

Ingredients

250 g beef tenderloin or flank steak, cut into thin pieces
2 ½ tablespoons cooking oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
2.5 cm piece fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
1/2 carrot, sliced diagonally
½ small green capsicum, cut into pieces
½ small red capsicum, cut into pieces
1 small onion, cut into quarters
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Salt, to taste

Sauces to marinade

1 tsp vegetable stock powder
½ teaspoons soy sauce
½ teaspoon dark soy sauce
1 teaspoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon cornstarch
½ teaspoon sesame oil
½ teaspoon sugar (optional)

Method

1. Marinate the beef with all the sauce ingredients, about 15 minutes ( I didn’t let it sit to marinate because it was a last minute decision to make this & it still turned out tasty!)

2. Heat oil in a wok over high heat. Stir-fry the beef until the beef has just turned brown, then add the garlic and ginger. Stir fry until aromatic.

3. Add the capsicums, carrots, onions and black pepper. Stir-fry for 5 minutes until the vegetables soften (but make sure it doesn’t go soggy)

4. Transfer the beef back into the wok or skillet. Stir-fry until the beef is cooked through and the center of the meat is no longer pink, about 1-2 minutes. Dish out and serve immediately with steamed rice.

5. Serve immediately with warm rice.
