Freebie #1 – Printable DIY Eid Bunting Flags

What is a celebration without a welcome banner right? So for week #3, we have a bunting flag template that you can just simply print, cut and decorate!
Materials needed for this project:
1. This printable template
2. A4/8×12” White paper (200gsm/110 lb +)
3. Ruler
4. Cutter and scissors
5. Hole punch
6. Ribbon or string
Cut the flag template using a cutter/scissors and ruler.
Don’t be lazy like me and cut all 6 pages together in one go! Thank God I got them all right- be sure to align the pages properly if you’re using this lazy method!
Use a hole puncher to make 2 holes on each flag.
Again, the lazy me…punching all the holes together. Woohoo I got it right the first go! (if you stuff up, you start again from scratch!)

Arrange them to make “EID MUBARAK”.

Cut your string to the desired length (measure where you want to hang them first). Thread the string/ribbon through. The first letter, you need to put the string from the top (see pic above).

And then just add all the letters, making sure the string/ribbon is behind the flag so you cant see it.

And now decorate! I chose to hang them at my old unused fireplace as mantel piece decoration. Absolutely love it! And the best part is, the colors go extremely well with my living room decor!

There are 4 designs this Eid, and one of them is a Ramadan card (featured above). The Eid Cards come from the Geometry Collection(rectangles, circles and triangles) and the Ramadan is part of the Pastel Collection.

Playing with geometrics and a cool colour palette, the cards translate perfectly our inclination to clean and contemporary aesthetics. Nothing tacky or over the top, in fact they are so contemporary and modern that it fits in with our way of life now. This is what we are about-clean designs, and thats it!

{interior design} kitchen mood board

Here is a little teaser of something exciting that I am currently working on. Mood boards are often created as a basis for designing, ie- the research part. Once the designer and client have agreed with the theme/feel/look of the space, then the work begins! Design proposal, design documentation and design construction will take place one after another. So stay tuned!

DIY Wall art for living room nook

When the husband wants something, he just has to say the word and then I’ll take care of the rest. This time he wanted an armchair, for more comfort.

I wasn’t exactly sure where else I could put this extra armchair seeing that our living room isn’t a big room, so I had to compromise some things and move around. The photo below was the old living room decor nook, where the floor lamp is. And this is where the new armchair will go.

So when we put the new armchair there and moved the floor lamp to the opposite nook (gotten rid of the magazine rack), the walls behind the armchair looked rather plain. I decided to DIY some art from the stuff we already had and picked up a couple of things from the junk yard. I got this timber tray for $2.50 each.

Above: Sanded timber tray (before)

Below: During the process of painting

The picture below are the 3 DIY wall art.

1- Exsiting Ikea MALMA mirror that I stencil and painted with a quatrefoil design.

2. Junk yard timber tray turned wall art – digital design print.

3. Junk yard timber tray turned wall art – hand painted.

For the quatrefoil mirror, I cut out a stencil and traced it all around the mirror with a pencil.

Then using acrylic paint, painted it with love and care.

Here is a close up of the timber trays, they are painted to make it look a bit rustic

As for art #2, Its a digital design art that I made in illustator and printed it out. I’m also selling it in my Etsy store.

The cushion was purchased online from eBay.
